Paintings as a Connections

“Each friend represents a world in us
A world possibly not born until they arrive”
– Anais Nin
Painting is a personal connection. It has its own language albeit a visual one. Like a friendship it deepens, mellows, has conflict and resolution. I begin the work with swift mark making claiming my territory establishing a mood. Additional layers build the trust that I need to move forward to nurture this relationship. You see intimacy is an inherent social need. I’ve learned that the paintings that are very personal to me, the ones that touch my heart or hit the place of vulnerability, would then be accessible to its viewers.
